9 GIFTS: A CHRISTMAS TRADITION

When I was a kid, my mom would give me 9 gifts before christmas, one each day starting December 16. Those gifts were more of the things I need or inexpensive things like pencils, handkerchief even underwear! ha ha ha It continued until I graduated college.

DIY Montessori Movable Alphabet

I made this DIY Montessori Movable Alphabet thinking how hard will it be, I will just be cutting letters and printing pictures.

Crayola Window Markers

We enjoy Crayola Window Markers not only for drawings, but for studying as well.

Kidzania Manila & Lego's Monthly Build

Here are some helpful tips on how we spend our day in Kidzania, having been here for three times already! :)

Best to come here during the weekdays since the hours are longer compared to weekends and cheaper too!

To maximize your stay 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (weekdays) be sure to be there before 9am to get tickets in case you haven't purchased online. We have no experience booking online so I don't exactly know how it goes but pretty sure it's more convenient.

Reading Activities

Reading while playing is very effective with the Tornado, although it doesn't apply on every child, it's worth a try. I had this board game since I was a kid, luckily my mom was able to keep it. It's called Our Town where you spin the arrow to know how many spaces you will be moving and every time you stop at a "house" you draw a card with the same picture.

CHEWBACCA PARTY

Because he loves Chewie from Star Wars and wanted to have a Chewbacca party in school, here are some of the things we did and had. Click here for the R2-D2 and Yoda printable. I used R2-D2 as an invitation and I glued Yoda at the back of the loot bag with a thank you note. I also did tie fighter invitations which the idea I found from pinterest, click here for the link. I downloaded a file which contains cupcake toppers but I used them for the Play-Doh instead.

STAR WARS PARTY

For a 5 year old, he already had his first birthday salubong. Since he is into Star Wars, we decorated our home according to the theme. The black background is just a garbage plastic bag, I find it cheaper than black cartolina plus it's larger.

WORD FLASHCARDS

As I have observed with our child, writing words/sentence is a breeze. However, we need more practice in reading. For this activity, I wrote words from the book, The Cat in the Hat which he is familiar of and included pictures on the side for him to be able to associate it with the word. Then to make it more advanced, I made cards without pictures and added more sight words. We just run through it everyday until he is familiar with those words.

DIY Postcards

Those little hands can help you decorate your post cards by adding some stamps as a background.
