When I was a kid, my mom would give me 9 gifts before christmas, one each day starting December 16. Those gifts were more of the things I need or inexpensive things like pencils, handkerchief even underwear! ha ha ha It continued until I graduated college.
Of all the Christmas traditions that we have, this one would probably be my favourite. Who wouldn't want to open a gift everyday? But now that it's the Tornado's turn, I even had a great time looking around for nine things he would like or need. Of course, wrapping and watching him open his presents everyday is a delight especially when he gasp and the look in his eyes would tell you that he really liked it.
So for our son, since he likes doodling and reading, most of our gifts were art materials or books from Booksale. It doesn't really matter what's inside, it's the joy of opening a present and appreciating it what makes it memorable and I am happy that we get to continue this tradition with the Tornado.
